A few quick things

I'm sure you all will, but please remember to keep Claire (and family) in your prayers over the next several weeks/months.

Don't forget about the party at Brad and Krystal's on Friday. I think they said 7pm and I know they said to bring the kids.

Thanks, Lynne, for the snack today. Amish doughnuts are pretty good!

Be thinking about what we're going to do next in SS. We'll be finishing the study on James this coming Sunday. Claire and Tim said they might have an idea but aren't sure if it will work so we should all be thinking . . .

Sunday School Picnic

We have set a date for our class to have a picnic at the Lashley's.

Date: Saturday July 25
Time: 5:30

Where: The Lashley's.

There will be a sign up sheet in going around soon in class. Please watch for it. Matt and I will make sure there are plates and utensils, ice tea, water. There is electric for crock pots as well. We will also have the cornhole game set up, the washer game and possible hill billy golf. Bring your kids as well. Plenty of room to run and play for them.

Start thinking about what you want to bring. More information will come as we get closer to the day!

Prayer Request

Silas had his one month appt. this week and a few concerns we have had were addressed which will require more in depth medical treatment. We will be going for an US of his stomach on Friday to determine whether or not he has a complication (pyloric stenosis for those that might understsand medical things) causing his abundant spitting up. On top of that, we have a referral for a pediatric surgeon at Children's Hospital for his belly button hernia. In that case, the chances are that nothing will be done at this time but our Dr. wanted to make sure that a specialist was following his case so that if there were complications or such, it is already noted and we have met with and understand all that would be going on. I am not sure when that appt. will be but will let you all know whenever we find out.

Encouragement cards

I was asked by Sherri to have our class write out cards for Ann Warnock since she will be going to Emmaus (I am pretty sure I spelled that wrong). She said thinking of you cards, your in our thoughts/prayers etc.. If we could have the cards brought to class this Sunday, I will get them to Sherri on Monday. Thanks, Krystal

Werner Family

Most of you probably remember Krista Werner from youth. I just got a note about her Grandpa. She asked if I could let our Sunday School class know. this is the update thus far on Grandpa Durham:

"To those who have asked: my grandpa had a split aorta a few months back, had surgery, and came through it with flying colors. They thought everything was fine. He started complaining of pain over the weekend, so they took him into Aultman, where they looked him over, and decided they couldn't do anything for him and life flighted him to Cleveland Clinic. He has another spilt in his aorta and things are very unsure right now, and definitely not looking good. Thank you to everyone who has sent up a prayer for our family and thank you to those who continue to send those prayers up. We appreciate them and need them more than you know." Thanks Krista

Please prayer for their family. Thanks

Also Congrats to Tim and Jen, Micah and Addie on the birth of Silas Andrew Monday morning.

Update #2-Matt

I found out last night that Matthew will be getting his hearing aides this Tuesday after work. He seemed really excited about it last night. So in a weeks time I believe that we will be able to see changes not only in his hearing but i think in his speech as well.

Thanks for all your prayers and support during these last few months. It has been greatly appreciated.

Update

As promised I would update you on the progress of Matt and his tests. WE have not heard back about his ECHO that he had, so we are assuming that all was fine. My mom said that if there was something seriously wrong or a trigger they would have called by now.

In other news, he had another Doctor appt. this week and we found out last night that Matt has to get hearing aides. I am not sure if this is a good thing, but he seems ok with it. He was telling me all about it tonight. After my parents explained what was happening Matt has some nero hearing( it's a big long word that I can't even pronounce let alone spell) problem and these aides will help him. I guess they look like little computer chips, and they have an upkeep of battery change every week to 10 days. They have been molded and we are waiting on the call to get the first batch. Th Doctor told my parents that they have never seen this in an 32 year old, but we must remember that Matthew is really has 20 years on him(that is what the Downs Syndrome does to individual like Matthew) and is on the right track for having things like this tested.

I will not be in church Sunday as I will be away with my mom and Grandma on a scrapbook/card making weekend. Please keep us in your prayers, but more importantly Matt. See you Next week, and hopefully more updates as they come! Thanks for being such a great class, I am honored to be apart of it. Thanks!

Coffee Cake recipe

1 yellow cake mix
1 sm. instant vanilla pudding
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 c. pecans chopped
1/2 c. oil

Topping:
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. sugar
cinnamon
chopped pecans

Mix together the cake mix, pudding, eggs, water, 1/2 c. pecans, and oil. Pour into greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Mix together brown sugar, cinnamon and sugar, and additional pecans and press onto cake mix batter. Bake at 350 for 30 min. Cover immediately with foil.

**This is how the recipe goes in the cookbook, but I didn't have a sm. pudding so I used a large box, no pecans so I used walnuts and I baked it in 2 round cake pans so one could have nuts and the other one not. Happy baking :)
